Hi all,

Because Sous Vide machine is too expensive (for me 😁), here is my first time diy sous vide using arduino and stuff i got on my drawer.
I'm using frozen tenderloin, sous vide at 56 Celcius for 2 hours then sear on high temp using grape seed oil for couple second, not bad right??

next time ill try to lower the temp to 54 Celcius and using thicker meat. wish me luck🍀.

Impressive diy setup! Everyone’s gonna have an opinion on the temp, I’ve learned it’s a matter of finding that sweet spot in your own. How soft you like some meats mainly.

Welcome to sous vide! It’s great and tastes amazing when you find that sweet spot!

I got mine for $12 at one of those discount stores that sells returned goods. Clearly I should have had this option on my radar.

As an IT teacher you have inspired me for an easy project for my high school students!

Idk where those power points are from, what country are you in?

  5. Kinda feels like OP intentionally included all the wiring in the shot in order to elicit a specific kind of response from us. This would look semi fine if it were just the tub, heater element, and the power cord leading away from the shot. Also, I don’t know, was this really better than buying a cheap $30 one?

    Keep temp at 56.

Make an ice bath (salt + ice) for the meat to chill after cooking.

Chill the meat for 10 minutes, remove from plastic bag, pat try use lots of kitchen paper.

Sear in oil or butter that’s all the way at the smoke point before you put the meat in.

Move the meat around the pan while searing until golden.

Do you have some kind of fan to keep the water moving?

its very close to how my first SV looked. But mine was more aesthetically pleasant tbh

Wow, welcome to almost 20 years ago. Back when the $1400ish polyscience was all there was and this seemed to make sense for an avid DIYer.

Nice work! Most people on Reddit are in the US, where it is easy to just order a cheap version of whatever on Amazon or get someone slightly used version at a thrift store. I appreciate the ingenuity you show here. Good job
